‘The Vampire Diaries’ Facebook Game Launches! Play Now!
Great news for all of the Vampire Diaries fans looking to kill time while they wait for the latest episode! Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment just announced the launch of The Vampire Diaries: Get Sucked In, a new game playable on Facebook. Based on the vamp-tastic show the game is free and available to all Vampire Diaries fans with a Facebook account. Woot!
According to the official press release, The Vampire Diaries: Get Sucked In extends the supernatural story of the TV series about two vampire brothers who fall in love with the same beautiful girl. Players begin their own journey of discovery as they explore the town of Mystic Falls and complete missions given to them by characters from the TV series. These missions lead players deeper into the mysteries and events that are unraveling in this pleasant, yet dangerous town.
“The Vampire Diaries: Get Sucked In will draw Facebook fans in with gameplay that builds upon key plot lines involving their favorite characters from The CW’s most popular series,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Now players of the game will get to delve deeper into the engaging mysteries that have made The Vampire Diaries a hit.”
“The Vampire Diaries: Get Sucked In allows fans to participate in a social game that extends beyond The CW’s Thursday episode broadcast and provides an immersive experience for them to visit the world of Mystic Falls — populated with the characters they love — all week,” added Lisa Gregorian, Chief Marketing Officer, Warner Bros. Television Group. “The game is fang-tastic.”
Players will be able to explore the Vampire Diaries world using the game’s interactive map to move through key locations and uncover dark secrets about the town and its residents, playing games that test their knowledge of The Vampire Diaries along the way.
Now, while the game is free to play, that doesn’t mean that ALL of it is free. To get extra in-game items, open special prize chests and unlock new areas on the map you will need to use Facebook credits, which cost real money. Boo!
But that’s not too bad, you are still able to play the game for free, you just don’t get the extra goodies.
I played the game for a while and it appears to be one of the few well-made Facebook games out there. The music is great, the graphics are appealing and it keeps you entertained – perfect for any Vampire Diaries fan.
Play it HERE.
Have any of you played it yet? If so, what did you think?

Vampire Diaries Season 3 Episode 4
Vampire Diaries - Season 3 - Disturbing Behavior
This episode didn't have any flashbacks, but it had kind of a herky-jerky flow, not to mention, a lot more focus on filler, --that I have to admit, didn't do a whole lot for me. Don't get me wrong, I still love the show, and it's always awesome to see it. But that doesn't mean I'm entirely happy with the way they wrapped this particular 'nugget' of Vampire Diaries awesomeness. So in the spirit of optimism, as usual, I'll list what I loved first.
- The beginning of the show, when Damon and Elena are all... cute together. Then Alaric ruins it by being all parental... but speaking of that...
- Alaric's parental and leadership role; he's really stepping up to the big plate of responsibility, and I have to say, this pleases me. Elena and Jeremy are still kids, and it wouldn't kill them to have a little adult guidance.
- Anna being back, wooooot! She's a great character. But is it safe to trust her? Dun, dun, dun! We'll find out eventually.
- Bonnie's return to the show, --also fantastic, although she's stepping right into the middle of Jeremy's discovery that his ex by death default, Anna, is still hanging around... and stirring up old feelings.
- Damon's attempt at killing "Bill", --Caroline's douchebag dad. He's an asshole, and he deserved it, but I get that despite his forsaking Caroline, she still has feelings for him. Damon was only trying to do the "right thing" according to Damon.
- Katherine killing the morally ambiguous witch friend of Klaus. She was cool until she started torturing Stefan. So... Katherine sucks, but still, that was definitely worth a few brownie points in my book.
- The possibility of a big bad vampire hunter that can kick Klaus (and his bitch sister) out of the game. Let's hope the idea of getting ahold of this "Michael" guy doesn't blow up in Stefan's face.
- This line: "That's good. It's good to want things, Katherine." Lololol.
- I am soooo over Klaus's sister. What a ho. And she's like Superbitch. She could give Katherine a serious run for her money in the bitch arena.
- Damon's 180 degree, bratty turn-around in this episode. He was really cute at the start and then he went back to his out-of-control, snotty behavior. Tres uncool. But, on the other hand, Alaric is totally cock-blocking him. And even though it is in a paternal kinda way, it's causing some friction in the house.
- "Bill", --Caroline's dad, Liz's ex-husband. God, what a dick. And now he's immune to the vampire brain whammy? Seems kind of unfair. He's going to cause serious problems. Plus, even after Caroline saves her, he still treats her like a lost cause.
- Caroline's needling Elena over Damon. That's not fair, and Damon has changed a lot for the better. I think Damon and Elena should be left alone to figure out how they feel about each other. Without everyone else's input.
- The potentiality of an "Evil Vickie". She was a douchey bitch when she was alive. It stands to reason she'd have problems as a ghost too. Hopefully, we'll wind up the whole Vickie thing by the end of the season. I didn't even like her character in the first season. Skank.
- The possibility of Alaric's ring not working anymore. Apparently, it's taking longer and longer for him to come back. Someone should look into that.
- Katherine stealing Damon away. But at least, now maybe Elena will have to chase after him!

‘True Blood’ Goes Disney in Upcoming ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Episode
True Blood stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer are going to be appearing on the Disney series Phineas and Ferb! The two are lending their voices to the animated series’ Halloween vampire episode titled "The Curse of Candace." This news makes me all kinds of happy! I may be an adult but I love me some cartoons and I have no problem admitting that Phineas and Ferb is one of my favorites. What is even better is that Anna and Stephen aren't the only supernatural celebs in this episode! Read on to find out who the other two fantastic celebs are.
In the upcoming episode Candace is bitten by a bat after watching a popular vampire movie (which totally spoofs Twilight) with Stacy and worries that she is becoming a vampire. Phineas and Ferb's latest gadgets lead Candace to believe that she has indeed made the change from teenager to teen vampire.
Stephen Moyer, who is best known as the vampire king, Bill Compton, is voicing a pretty vampire boy named Jared. Paquin voices the fake movie’s female lead, Kristen. As I said above, they are spoofing Twilight, which is pretty obvious in the name choice. So, not only do you have True Blood actors in this episode, there are also loads Twilight jokes in it too. This episode is going to be awesome!
Check out a hilarious clip from the upcoming episode:
Click here to view the embedded video.
Ahaha! This just might be my favorite Twilight parody yet. That one little clip was fantastic. But it gets better! That well-built werewolf (a spoof of Jacob obviously) is voiced by the original Teen Wolf himself, Michael J. Fox! Yay! The crew behind Phineas and Ferb get major points for taking this Twilight parody to the next level with True Blood stars and Michael J. Fox.
But the good news isn’t over yet. The episode also includes a segment featuring Michael Douglas’ voice as zombies and a pumpkin head. Woot!
The Halloween episode airs today (October 7) on the Disney Channel.
I am super excited about this episode! Anyone else watching it?

Why Do You Think People Love Vampires So Much?
Over the past few years I have interviewed many wonderful authors and I absolutely love it. Since talking about their book and nothing else is a little boring, I like to throw in a few other vampire related questions to makes things more interesting and one of my favorite questions to ask is – “Given the current vampire craze, people feel especially attracted to vampires, why do you think that is?” I love asking this because I get such a wide variety of answers, no two authors have given me the same answer. I love hearing people’s opinions on what makes vampire so desirable (not just sexually, but as a whole) and that is why I am bringing this question to you, my beloved readers, I’m curious about your answers as well. So…
Given the current vampire craze, people feel especially attracted to vampires, why do you think that is?
Let me know in a comment below!
Here’s what a few others have said in the past:
"The same reason people are so interested in religion – the possibility of them gives us the notion that we might be more than we are. Mankind has been kicking against its nature since the dawn of the first Neanderthals. We don’t want to be meaningless evolutionary quirks. We want to matter, to be central to the universe, to have the potential to be awesome. One way in which we try to reassure ourselves that we’re not insignificant flecks is by embracing the light of religion. Another way is by embracing the darkness of vampires and other mythical monsters. Great evil can be just as alluring as great good, if it gives us the promise of greatness within our reach. Vampires are probably the most believable and credible of monsters, which is why I think they’ve enjoyed such growing success over the last century or so." – Darren Shan, author of multiple bestselling series
"…People have been and always will be attracted to vampires because they personify the supernatural realm. People tend to identify more with heroes or villains who are preternaturally strong and are not perfect, that can be hurt or even destroyed. Ironically, more than the bloodlust and super strength, speed, and other fantastical abilities, people identify more with the humanity and sensuality of the vampire. Vampires often do what many people wish they could, save drinking another’s blood." – Kane, author of Aleron
"I think ultimately because vampires have such a broad and rich history that they can be quite flexible in the roles they play. They can be anything from heroes to love interests. I think that's reached a straining point, to where some vampires are indistinguishable from say superheroes." – David Doub, creator of the graphic novel Dusk
"I think the romance novels have crafted the vampire as this attainable, dark, seductive creature that will slink into your life on a shadow and seduce you to take his bite that will offer you glamour, adoration and everlasting life. How can you not be attracted to that? What attracts me is the potential history the vampire could be carrying with him. I go for the older guys, at least a few centuries old. How cool would it be to have a conversation with a man who has walked through history?" – Michele Hauf, author of multiple fangtastic novels
"For the average wage earner, life can get pretty boring sometimes. What better way to add some spice to your life than the supernatural. Vampires represent the extremes of human life. Who hasn’t daydreamed of living forever? And yet to do so, would probably be the saddest thing that could happen to a human being." – Bob Frey, author of The Bashful Vampire Murder
Now it's your turn! Why do you think people are so attracted to vampires? What is it about them that inspires people? Why do people love reading vampire novels and watching vampire films?

Book Giveaway! Win a Copy of ‘The Radleys’ by Matt Haig
I’ve got a wonderful treat for all of our book lovers out there! We’re giving away five copies of The Radleys by bestselling author Matt Haig! The Radleys is a widely acclaimed novel that takes a unique approach to vampires by telling the witty tale of a vampire family attempting to live an ordinary life. See giveaway details below!
The Radleys official plot description:
“Just about everyone knows a family like the Radleys. Many of us grew up next door to one. They are a modern family, averagely content, averagely dysfunctional, living in a staid and quiet suburban English town. Peter is an overworked doctor whose wife, Helen, has become increasingly remote and uncommunicative. Rowan, their teenage son, is being bullied at school, and their anemic daughter, Clara, has recently become a vegan. They are typical, that is, save for one devastating exception: Peter and Helen are vampires and have—for seventeen years—been abstaining by choice from a life of chasing blood in the hope that their children could live normal lives.
One night, Clara finds herself driven to commit a shocking—and disturbingly satisfying—act of violence, and her parents are forced to explain their history of shadows and lies. A police investigation is launched that uncovers a richness of vampire history heretofore unknown to the general public. And when the malevolent and alluring Uncle Will, a practicing vampire, arrives to throw the police off Clara’s trail, he winds up throwing the whole house into temptation and turmoil and unleashing a host of dark secrets that threaten the Radleys’ marriage.
The Radleys is a moving, thrilling, and radiant domestic novel that explores with daring the lengths a parent will go to protect a child, what it costs you to deny your identity, the undeniable appeal of sin, and the everlasting, iridescent bonds of family love. Read it and ask what we grow into when we grow up, and what we gain—and lose—when we deny our appetites.”

Vampire Seeks Revenge in ‘The Harsh Light of Day’
While scanning the web for some new and interesting vampire films I came across an upcoming film titled The Harsh Light of Day. Written and directed by Oliver Milburn this British horror movie is currently slated to be released in 2012. From what I read in the plot description and saw in the trailer The Harsh Light of Day may be perfect for those looking for a harder vampire film.
“After returning home from the launch of his book about the occult, Daniel Shergold's house is broken into by thugs, who beat his wife to death and leave him paralyzed. A depressed agoraphobic in his secluded country cottage, Daniel mourns the death of his wife while being cared for by home nurse, Fiona. He is unable to accept the lack of success the police have in finding his wife's killers. Daniel accepts a visit from a mysterious stranger who insists he can help him reap revenge. He agrees and is thrown into a strange and horrific transition into darkness. With renewed strength, Daniel sets out to avenge his wife's murder, but at what cost?”

This definitely isn’t your average vampire flick, that’s for sure. However, there is a voice in the back of my head screaming for me to remember something. I can’t quite put my finger on it but this storyline seems so incredibly familiar to me, I feel like I read it before. Hmm… perhaps I am imagining things. Anyway, The Harsh Light of Day definitely sounds like it could be an impressive low-budget film. I really like that they didn’t choose to go the cliché and boring vampire route that so many others have before them.

What do you think of The Harsh Light of Day? Does is sound like a film you would be interested in watching?

The Aswang Phenomenon
I absolutely love vampire history and folklore, so when I heard of the upcoming film titled The Aswang Phenomenon I let out a little squeal of joy. The Filipino aswang is one of my many favorite vampire species because it has such a rich history. There are so many different versions of the aswang myth (you can find one here) and it’s all so fascinating. But, the most interesting thing about this vampire is that it continues to be feared even today. Unlike other vampire folktales and legends, the story of the aswang has not been lost to time, in the hearts of many in the Philippines this vampire still exists. That’s incredible.
The Aswang Phenomenon is a documentary coming soon to DVD that delves into the history of the aswang and tries to discover why people still fear it even now.
The official description:
“What would happen if a country of 97 million people were taught at a young age that the boogie man was real? In the Philippines, this isn't far from the truth. Over the last 400 years, the aswang has come to represent everything that is vile, disgusting and evil in Philippine society. It has become the most controversial, and popular, creature in Philippine Mythology and is the main subject in hundreds of movies, television programs, comics, and books. The aswang can appear in many forms- a young woman, a witch, a large black pig or dog, a corpse stealing ghoul, or the Manananggal a self segmenting beast with a long hollow tongue that will feed on the fetus of pregnant woman. Where did this word come from? Why are there so many different types of aswang? Why are they predominantly women? And why is the small Visayan province of Capiz suspected as their home? Jordan Clark (Bangkok Girl) sets out to find the answers. His journey explores folk stories in pre-Spanish Philippines - re-created in animated sequences by Denver Jackson. He uncovers historical tales of social control and black propaganda by Spanish Colonizers, the Catholic Church, the Philippine Administration, and even the CIA - who all used the stories of aswang for their own agenda. The Aswang Phenomenon is the first in-depth documentary regarding the aswang myth - discovering where manifestations of the creature came from and how they evolved and embedded themselves in Filipino society. Learn how Filipinos have been transformed by the myth and are now evolving the aswang to fit into their developing cultural identity. Understanding where the aswang came from is the first step in taking away its power and the fear it creates. Special Features: Feature Length Docu-Movie ;Aswang: A Journey into Myth; the first 3 issues of Tobie Abad's Diliman komik. English subtitles.”
For more information on The Aswang Phenomenon check out its official website HERE.
This is definitely a film I am interested in watching, it sounds amazing (I’m such a folklore geek). What do you guys think?
