First Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Trailer Released!

At long last 20th Century Fox has released the first Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter trailer! I have been waiting for a trailer for ages so I am beyond geeked to finally get a peek at this long awaited film.

Benjamin Walker stars as President Lincoln, who dedicates his life to destroying vampires and their slave-owning helpers after a vampire murders his mother.

Check out the teaser trailer below:

Discussing his upcoming  film, Walker said that the story is "told through the structure of Lincoln's actual life." He added, "You not only see these huge fight scenes and great moments of drama, but you get sort of the greatest hits of Lincoln's life, from the mysterious death of his mother through the Gettysburg address. You get a portrait of this man, as well as a thriller."

Instead of highlighting Lincoln's impressive political life, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter presents the America's 16th president as a man who dedicates his life to destroying vampires with his legendary axe after his mother is killed by the bloodsuckers. He continues to hunt the undead all the way through his presidency.

Helming the film is visionary director Timur Bekmambetov, who also co-produced the film along with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley. Seth Grahame-Smith, author of the original novel, also wrote the film’s screenplay. Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson and Rufus Sewell are also part of the cast alongside Benjamin Walker.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will hit theaters June 22, 2012.

What do you think of the trailer? Are you more excited about the film now? I definitely am! From the looks of that little teaser, it appears that Bekmambetov will be making Abraham Lincoln just as action-packed and eye-catching as his previous films. I can’t wait to see this one in theaters, here’s hoping it does the book justice.

Horror Seekers Get a Big Dose of Scary in Upcoming Vampire Film

If you’re one of those horror lovin’ vampire fans thoroughly disgusted by the overabundance of squishy romance films like Twilight and shows featuring love-struck high school vampires, then you’re going to be thrilled to hear that there’s an Australian film titled The Caretaker that is packed full of gore and violence.

As you can see in the trailer below this horror flick is based on a very shaky agreement between a vampire and human family. Yeah, it’s not going to work out well for them seeing how the vamp isn’t some guilt-ridden sweetheart, but rather a bloodthirsty beast.

Here's the trailer:

Click here to view the embedded video.

Looks like a well made scare-the-hell-out-of-you movie.

The film is directed by Tom Conyers and stars Tom Conyers, Anna Burgess, Colin MacPherson, Lee Mason and Clint Dowdell.

For more info on this film check out the official The Caretaker website or The Caretaker Facebook page. The producers are currently submitting The Caretaker to film festivals and seeking distribution. So there’s no word yet on when the film will be available to all.

Synopsis:

“A plague of vampirism has swept across the world. A small but discordant group of survivors hole up in a country mansion. They soon discover that a vampire also shares the house with them. He proposes a deal: They protect him during the day from other humans, and he’ll protect them at night from other vampires. So begins an uneasy alliance, which soon threatens to fall apart.”

Here's a look at The Caretaker poster:

What are your thoughts on The Caretaker? Does it look like a vampire movie you’d like to check out? What are your thoughts on scary vampires vs. sweet love-struck vampires? Do you prefer them scary or sweet? Let me know in a comment below.

See First Stills of Johnny Depp as a Vampire!

At long last we have actual screen shots from Dark Shadows! Photos of vampire Johnny Depp have been revealed and the man is definitely one creepy and strange looking Barnaby Collins – but in the totally best of ways! Have a look for yourself:

Yeah, he’s definitely an odd looking vampire, but it totally works for this film. He also looks MUCH better than the on-set paparazzi photos that were leaked a few months back, those made him look overly pale and doll-like. But this photo is fantastic. So is the photo below of him and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Yay pictures! We are still waiting on the Dark Shadows trailer to be released, but at least we now have a few wonderful stills from the upcoming film to get us excited, and I’m totally excited. Director Tim Burton's adaption of the cult TV series is due to open on May 11th, and that definitely feels like a much longer wait now.

In the Dark Shadows movie remake, Johnny Depp stars as the lead character of the vampire Barnabas Collins. Immigrating with his parents from London, England to America in 1752, Collins grows into a rich and powerful playboy enjoying everything life has to offer. Unfortunately for him, he makes the terrible mistake of breaking the heart of a witch (Eva Green). This witch curses him with a horrible fate by turning him into a vampire and burying him alive.

Centuries later, Barnabas is freed from his tomb and suddenly finds himself in a very different world. After being buried for 200 years, Collins attempts to reintegrate into society in 1972, restore the faded legacy of Colinwood Manor and deal with the remains of his totally insane and dysfunctional family.

In addition to Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, the film also stars Michelle Pfeiffer (as seen above), Johnny Lee Miller, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green and Chloe Moretz.

What do you guys think of the new Dark Shadows photos? How excited are you about this upcoming film?

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER
As one of my favorite books last year, I can’t wait to see this film this year! This film has so many huge names behind it that there’s no doubt in my mind that it’s going to be incredibly well done. Both the book and screenplay were written by the fantastic Seth Grahame-Smith, it’s being directed by Timur Bekmambetov who also directed Wanted (a fave of mine) and Tim Burton is producing.

Plot description: President Lincoln's mother is killed by a supernatural creature, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN - PART 2
The Twilight Saga is coming to an end with the final film in the franchise (or so they say). Picking up where the first part left off, this film is sure to be bitter sweet for the fans.

Plot description: After the birth of Renesmee, the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi.

Release date: November 16, 2012

No trailer or Part 2 promo pictures currently available, so here’s an old promo picture:

That covers all of the BIG vampire releases this coming year. Which one are you most excited for? I can’t choose, it’s a close tie between Underworld: Awakening and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Ex-Boy Band Member Plays Sleazy Vampire in Upcoming Film

It appears that all sorts of old boy band members are getting into acting these days, we already have *N Sync and New Kids on the Block members having a go at it, and now, one of the Backstreet Boys – Kevin Richardson. Kevin has the lead role in The Bloody Indulgent, a disturbing vampire film slated to be released sometime in 2012. This definitely isn’t the type of film I was expecting from him.

From the official press release:

“In an attempt to savagely chew the blood out of a B-rated strip club owner named Sid (Brian Gaskill), a skeezy indulgent vampire, Burt (Kevin Richardson), whose zest for "life" is equaled only by his addiction to really expensive, exotic drugs, hides out (and dopes up) at an upscale drug den, owned by a photographer who seems to have grown a dark whimsy of killing herself.  Dori, Sid's girlfriends, and the other rather unique and humorous strippers at the club (Diva Zappa, Tracey Leigh, Laura Martin… ) are hell bent on revenge and declare war on Burt.  In the meantime, Burt's sidekick Todd (newcomer Brandon Heitkamp) grapples with his new station as a vampire, turned by Burt in a moment of blood-lust, and also grapples with his ensuing bisexuality, a by-product of being turned into a vampire… he thinks.  This sexy-violent musical is full of hot dancing girls and boys, drug addled nymphettes, existential zombies and gallons of blood rounding out this French New Wave version of a Pulp Fiction meets Strictly Ballroom romp.”

Yeah, Kevin has definitely grown up since his boy band days.

‘Dance of the Damned’ Remake on the Way

While scanning the magical website known as IMDB, I discovered a movie set to come out in 2012, a vampire flick titled Dance with a Vampyre. According to Dance with a Vampyre’s official Facebook page, this upcoming film is actually a remake of the 1989 vampire movie Dance of the Damned. If you have never heard of Dance of the Damned before, don’t worry, neither have I and I live and breathe vampires. Luckily the internet knows everything, and it tells me that this old vampire flick is about a suicidal stripper and a vampire that changes her life. Check out the plot synopsis below:

"A vampire follows his instincts to a strip joint where he focuses in on one of the performers. He picks her for his meal because she is contemplating suicide, but he wants to share her life before taking it, and during the course of the evening they discuss their differences, their fears, and their lifestyles. As the moment of truth approaches, the woman becomes less sure that she wants to die."

Is it ringing any bells with any of you? Yeah, I have never heard of it before now. I do admit though, it does sound interesting.

The remake is still in pre-production, so they're busy getting casting done and all that not-so-interesting stuff. So far director Katt Shea has casted his lead, a gorgeous actor named Erik Fellows (pictured right). Fellows will be taking on the role of the main vampire (originally played by Cyril O'Reilly) who wants to learn what it's like to live in the daylight and ends up finding companionship with a suicidal stripper that he has taken hostage.

What do you guys think of the upcoming Dance with a Vampyre? Does it sound like a film you’d want to check out? Have any of you seen the original, Dance of the Damned? If so, what did you think? Is it worthy of a remake?
